The sleeve insignia worn on the Battledress Blouse by the 1st Cameron Highlanders (after service with the BEF) consisted of a tartan flash (with a central red stripe sewn on) below the crossed keys of the 2nd Infantry Division and the two scarlet (infantry) arm-of-service strips. However, as the battalion fought in the Far East, insignia was seldom worn in combat. Thus, insignia worn behind the lines generally consisted of a "slider" with the embroidered name CAMERONS, and the 2nd Division flash, which was usually fastened to the uniform by means of press studs. Another location where the Divisional insignia was worn was either on the puggaree of the bush hat or on the upturned side of the brim. Behind the lines the Tam 'o Shanter was often worn as well.
