The sleeve insignia worn on the Battledress Blouse by the 5th Cameron Highlanders consisted of a patch of Cameron of Erracht tartan 3" wide x 1-1/4" tall, the "HD" flash of the famous 51st (Highland) Division, and a single scarlet (infantry) arm-of-service strip. These markings were worn on the upper sleeves of the Battledress Blouse.

When khaki drill clothing was worn early in the War, insignia consisted of a cloth slip-on worn on the epaulettes. On this slip-on was the 51st (Highland) flash below a patch of Cameron of Erracht tartan.

Later in the War the insignia on KD garments was moved from the epaulettes to the sleeves. This was usually seen as the Division formation sign above a large sqaure of the regimental Cameron of Erracht tartan.
