Ceramic finish types

We use a couple of different types of ceramic finishes on our ceramic parts. Here is a brief description of those available finish types.

Our Ceramic Finish Types

(MF/HF) – Matte Finish: This is where the ceramic is polished and refired to give a controlled “orange peel” surface finish. This finish is recommended for applications with elastic yarn or untwisted flat yarn for reduced friction.

(DP) – Diamond Polish: This is the surface finish which involves heavy polishing. The ceramic surface is finished to a very smooth texture which is ideal for use with textured yarns in the twisting and heating zones. Ceramics with this finish are also ideal for use as interlacing jet entrance and exit guides.

Recommended Uses

Below you’ll find simplified diagrams to help explain some of the best use cases for our engineered ceramic surface finishes. For example; if you are using Flat Yarn, Elastic Yarn, or Oiled / Coated Yarn, a Matte Finish Guide Surface would be best. However, if you are using Twisted Yarn or Spun Yarn, a Diamond Polish Guide Surface would be best. See examples below.
